"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” Isaiah 55:6 tells us to seek the Lord. We seek Him through prayer and when we find Him, we give Him praise. Pray and praise go hand in hand. When our parents gave us gifts as their children, we thanked them with all our hearts. When God gifts us with answered prayers we should be even quicker to thank and praise Him.
The “name it and claim it” idea has been very popular for years in Christian circles. It has mislead so many people into taking credit for what God has done in their lives. Instead of them giving Him the praise and glory they proclaim how their faith has done it. It seems to me that this is the same type of thing talked about in Matthew 6:5-13 . Jesus said that the hypocrites had their reward because they wanted the praise and attention from men. We are not to seek to make a big show before men. Matthew 6:6 says “ But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
